The “Southern Alps” is an ideal place to practice this activity because we have a remarkable climate and a wide variety of aerological situations that provide very comprehensive learning.

Beginner paramotor trike course

Content

The objective of this 5-day training course is to make you discover in a safe and progressive way the basics of flying a paramotor; in order for you to become autonomous by preparing for the pilot’s licence.

Course

Day 1: Welcome, administrative formalities, presentation of equipment, shaping of the profile and control of the wing, familiarisation with the engine.
Day 2: Simulation of take-off phases. Two-seater flight, with practice turns, and field approach. 1st solo flight with radio.
Day 3: Simple flights, work on the take-off and landing phases.
Day 4: Flight drills, U, S, 8 field trips.
Day 5: Conduct flight drills and landings to gain range.
Every day, theoretical courses are adapted to progress and complete this training.

MANAGEMENT

All our courses are supervised by Thierry SIMONET, paramotor ULM instructor (36 years of experience in flexible canopy), parachutist, paragliding pilot, pendulum ULM, 3axes, and glider.

MATERIAL

We provide you with all the technical equipment necessary for the flight, guaranteeing you comfort and security. We advise you to equip yourself with gloves and warm or windproof clothing (depending on the season) and high shoes.

Your personal commitment

You will discover an activity with unique sensations, in an exceptional environment. Nevertheless it is a sport very dependent on external parameters that we must respect with great humility. Our materials, our sites and our supervision are of the highest quality; however your acceptance of our rules of practice will allow you to better appreciate the experience.
The exceptional weather in our region makes it possible to ensure all our courses. However, in the case of one or two days of bad weather, we will offer to postpone your course, but we cannot reimburse you.

Terms and conditions of practice

This offer is intended for any member of the public aged at least 15 years (parental authorisation required for minors). Although the practice of the paramotor does not require a medical certificate of fitness, in order to better appreciate the joys of the air, we advise you to be in good physical condition.
Throughout your apprenticeship, your instructor’s insurance covers you in Air RC. However, we advise you to take out additional individual accident insurance (possibility on site, 50€)

After validation of your registration and payment of the deposit online, we will contact you in order to confirm dates and the number of people for this training.

COST 675 EUROS

This price includes : teaching and equipment loan, air RC insurance.

Discover the shared excitement of tandem paramotoring! This 3-day course aims to prepare you for the passenger paramotor qualification safely and gradually.

Course

Day 1: Welcome, presentation of the training course, presentation of the equipment, assessment check, solo work on the take-off and landing phases related to the two-seater technique.

Day 2: In-flight exercises, two-seater equipment presentation, passenger support.

Day 3: learning of safety rules related to tandem flight, tandem flights to confirm learning.

Every day, theoretical courses are adapted to progress and complete this training.

Day 1: Welcome, presentation of the course, presentation of the equipment, control of the wing with motor, familiarisation with the motorisation. Simulation of take-off phases. First simple flights, work on the take-off and landing phases.
Day 2: Flight drills, U, S, 8 field trips.
Day 3: Learning ground and flight engine operating safety rules, conduct of flight drills and landings to achieve range.

Every day, theoretical courses are adapted to progress and complete this training.

Requirements for access to the instructor course
  • Be 18 years old.
  • Have achieved a satisfactory result in the assessment of theoretical knowledge organised by DCPS.
  • Hold for two years the ULM pilot’s license, paramotor class, or meet a level of competence controlled by an authorised organisation.
  • Have performed at least 70 flights (declaration of honour).
  • Holder of the passenger carriage class paramotor
  • Have French Language Radio Qualification
  • Have taken out insurance R.C.
  • To satisfy the assessment by the authorised body of theoretical and practical knowledge, which will be specified in the progress booklet in the chapter “Report on the evaluation before the placement”.
  • Possible upgrading of pilot knowledge.
  • Satisfy, with your own equipment, a flight test defined by the training body and which will consist of 6 flights, the second being intended to check the correct correction of possible errors made during the first flight (with the exception of safety violations that will be eliminated on the first flight)

Turn 90° to the right or left: *Turn height: 50m. mini, drift control

Downwind turn: Height turn, drift control

Square field from 100 to 200m. according to the wind, at 150m: Drift control, height maintenance, engine use, wing bank, axis maintenance after turns.

Slow flight level 150m. mini, 50% brakes, wind face: Heading and Bearing, Engine Rpm, Safety % Brakes- Engine

PTS or PT8 facing the wind for descent on the plane: Wing tilt, keeping in cone stop 30m. finally

Level flight, facing the wind, 5m. over 200m: Level maintenance, engine speed roll control-attitude

Touch and go: *Airspace, descent control, fifth wheel exit, engine control-brakes, touchdown + or – 10m target, return high arms go-around, axis control.

Failure in the cone mini 200m vertical runway: Engine cut, airspace, evolves PTL, PTU, or PTS, precision + or – 20m

Landing: Standing, wing subsidence control, *material clearance

Debriefing: By the candidate, by the controller

Second flight: 30 to 60 minutes after the debriefing, this flight will focus on possible improperly performed exercises during the first flight.

Refresher instructors

In 2019 the new Instructor Training Order requires a 2-day refresher course and a flight assessment within the year

  • The two-day training course, mainly in the classroom, provides instructors with up-to-date information on:
    a) Regulations, legal aspects related to the exercise of the training activity, as well as accidentology;
    b) Human factors, threat and error management, and pedagogy;
    c) Mechanics and maintenance of ULM.
  • A control flight
    The control flight must enable the examiner to assess the instructor’s ability to deliver training in accordance with the required standards according to the level of technicality specific to each class.
Control flight: Class 1 paramotor
  • Control flights are by appointment, in the year preceding the expiry of the validity of the instructor rating.
  • The flights are preferably done with the instructor’s own equipment, but possibility to rent from the school.
